Filters for the pharmaceutical industry

The pharmaceutical, dietary supplement and cosmetic industries produce a variety of products that can become hazardous dust during production or packaging. Pharmaceutical dust released into the air poses a risk to the health of workers or the contamination of other products, therefore, in many cases, special dust extraction and filtration devices must be installed that can effectively handle hazardous materials.

Together with Donaldson, we supply filtration solutions for dust collection in the pharmaceutical industry. We also offer additional measures that allow for the safe operation and maintenance of filtration equipment and related system components.

The following measures are applied to Donaldson filtration devices:

• Additional or special sealing gaskets for isolating the filtration system;
• Configuration changes that reduce the accumulation of materials inside the filtration device and in the duct system;
• Secondary filtration module with HEPA elements for maximum air purification;
• Contact surfaces made of stainless steel or painted with FDA-approved paints;
• The design of the filtration devices is adaptable for internal and external washing and cleaning;
• Use of special gaskets to ensure safe discharge and disposal of contaminants collected in filtration equipment;
• Special measures to eliminate the spread of hazardous substances during filter maintenance and filter element replacement procedures;
• Equipment designed for work with explosive/flammable dusts;

Most of pharmaceutical dusts are flammable, therefore operations that generate or handle pharmaceutical dusts may require special measures to reduce the risk of fire and explosion.
