Industrial dust filters for silos

Silo dust filters are used to remove excess air from pneumatically filled tanks and silos. When bulk materials such as grain, cement, sugar, chemicals or other bulk products are fed into the silo, a large amount of air is drawn in at the same time. This excess air has to be released – but it is also accompanied by the release of fine particles of product. The Donaldson silo filter traps this dust and allows only clean air to be released, thus protecting the environment, avoiding product loss and meeting environmental requirements.

Types and selection of silo filters

Industrial dust filters in silos are selected according to several key parameters – type of conveying system, pressure, air flow rate and the characteristics of the material to be filtered.

In pneumatic delivery systems, the filtering device must balance the resulting positive pressure with the flow capacity of the material. In the case of mechanical conveyors with centrifugal fans, the filtration unit shall operate under negative pressure.
